Loretta Colvin is a Clinical Consultant Nurse Practitioner at the Clayton Sleep Institute and director of the CSI Knowledge Center.

She evaluates and treats patients with sleep disorders, specializing in education and support of sleep apnea patients. Ms. Colvin also develops the sleep health and wellness programs at CSI which includes outreach through community and business programs.

Prior to joining CSI, Ms. Colvin worked as a Nurse Practitioner at Johns Hopkins University in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine for eight years, four of which were spent in the Sleep Disorders Center. Her role was primarily clinical, coordinating the referral process for new patients, facilitating urgent evaluations, including pre-operative evaluations, and maintaining her own clinic population that included a high percentage of obstructive sleep apnea patients. She also coordinated the American Sleep Apnea Association AWAKE chapter for Johns Hopkins.

Ms. Colvin has been an invited speaker for the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, the Johns Hopkins Community Physicians on the topic of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and the St. Louis Nurses in Advanced Practice, also on the topic of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. She has presented “Perioperative Assessment and Obstructive Sleep Apnea” for an accredited continuing education sleep conference for physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and sleep technologists.

She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and active in the Missouri Nurse’s Association as well as St. Louis Nurses in Advance Practice.

A native of Columbia, Missouri, Colvin earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Missouri. She went on to obtain a master’s degree in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
